High Point Gutter replaced the gutters on a Redmond home in October 2026 after a repair assessment found no drip edge under the roof edge. The old system came off, and the crew installed 103 feet of 5-inch K-style seamless aluminum gutter in Light Pecan, 124 feet of dark gray downspout, 103 feet of new drip edge, and DoublePro gutter covers along the full run. The assessment was September 16 and the installation was October 8, 2026.

The homeowner’s request
The job started as a gutter repair assessment on September 16. The estimator photographed the roof edge, the corners, and the downspouts, sketched every run, and wrote a quote for a full replacement instead of a repair. The homeowner signed it the same day.
What High Point found at the roof edge
Two close-ups from the assessment tell most of the story. With the bottom shingle lifted, there is no metal under it, and daylight shows through the gap between the roof deck and the back of the gutter. The quote says it directly: the home did not have the proper starter metal under the roof. Without it, water running off the shingles can wick back under the roof edge and run behind the gutter instead of into it.

The corners were the other weak point in the photos. Moss and debris had collected where the runs met at a bay in the roofline, with dark lines along the corner seams.

Why the quote replaced the system
A repair would have left the same gap at the roof edge. The quote added 103 feet of 1×3-inch drip edge, one foot for every foot of new gutter, so roof water has a metal path into the trough. Another 21 feet of counter flashing went behind the drip edge where a gap would still have shown between the roofline and the top of the gutter.
The rest of the scope followed the house. Five valley diverters went where roof valleys dump water toward the gutter, so the water hits a backboard and drops in instead of shooting over. One upper downspout ended on the lower roof, so a hardpipe now carries that water across the shingles into the lower gutter. Seven downspout connections drop into underground drain lines, and each got a flex pipe transition from the 2×3-inch downspout to the 4-inch drain.

How the installation was completed
On October 8 the crew removed and recycled the old system, installed the drip edge, and hung 103 feet of new 5-inch K-style gutter. Per the quote, High Point uses .032-gauge aluminum on Raytec hidden hangers with preformed outlets. The four corners were hand-mitered on site and sealed with silicone. DoublePro covers went on along the full 103 feet, and all 124 feet of downspout went up in Dark Gray against the Light Pecan gutter.

Gutter replacement cost in Redmond, WA
This project fell in the $5,300 to $8,900 range. That covered removal of the old system, 103 feet of 5-inch gutter, 124 feet of downspout, 103 feet of drip edge, 103 feet of DoublePro covers, counter flashing, four hand-mitered corners, five valley diverters, a hardpipe, and seven drain transitions.
The downspouts and the drip edge were the two biggest line items after the gutter itself. This house needed more downspout footage than gutter footage, and the drip edge was priced by the foot along the whole run. A house that already has drip edge, or skips covers, would come in lower for the same length. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.
What homeowners replacing gutters should know
A repair call can turn up a replacement. Here the deciding detail was under the shingles, not in the gutter.
Count the downspouts, not just the gutter. On this home, 124 feet of downspout ran from 103 feet of gutter.
Look for upper downspouts that end on a lower roof. A hardpipe moves that water off the shingles and into the gutter below.
Related questions
How much does gutter replacement cost in Redmond, WA?
This Redmond replacement fell in the $5,300 to $8,900 range for 103 feet of 5-inch gutter, 124 feet of downspout, 103 feet of drip edge, DoublePro covers, and the flashing and drainage work. Homes without drip edge or covers on the quote would cost less for the same length.
Why was drip edge added to this job?
The assessment found no starter metal under the bottom shingles, with a gap between the roof and the old gutter. The quote added 103 feet of 1×3-inch drip edge so roof water runs into the new gutter instead of behind it.
What does a valley diverter do?
A valley diverter is a piece of metal on top of the gutter where a roof valley drains. Water that would shoot over the gutter hits it and drops into the trough. This house got five.
Why does the downspout footage exceed the gutter footage?
Downspouts run from each outlet down the wall to grade or to a drain. On this house that added up to 124 feet of downspout for 103 feet of gutter, including the connections to seven underground drains.
How long did this replacement take?
The installation was done on October 8, 2026, about three weeks after the September 16 assessment.
