Cleaned brown gutter run with an open downspout outlet after a repair in Kirkland, WA

Home › Projects › Gutter Repair in Kirkland

High Point Gutter repaired the gutters on a three-story Kirkland home in September 2026. The August 13 assessment found leaves and roof grit sitting in the gutters, a buried downspout outlet, and dark streaks on the stone wall below two gutter ends. On September 1 the crew cleaned the system, resloped 66 feet of gutter, resealed seven corners, reconnected two downspouts, washed the stained stone, and treated the roof for moss.

What High Point found

The assessment photos on August 13 show brown gutters holding leaves, roof grit, and dark sludge along the bottom of the trough. At one outlet the debris had built up around the opening to the downspout. Up on the roof, moss was growing in the seams between the shingles where a lower roof meets the wall.

The front of the house showed the other clue. Two gutter ends stop short of a stacked stone wall above a window, and the stone directly below them was streaked dark.

The estimator drew the gutter runs on graph paper and marked the problems in color: yellow for runs to reslope, green for downspouts to hook back up, and circles for corners to reseal. Most of the marks sit along one side of the house. The sketch totals 66 feet of reslope and seven reseals, and has a note asking whether the roof should get a moss treatment.

Why the quote was a repair

The problems on the sketch were in specific runs and corners. The quote did not include any new gutter. It covered the reslope of the 66 feet marked on the sketch, seven corner reseals, two downspout hook-ups, a cleaning of the gutters and downspouts, a moss treatment, and a wash of the stone below the gutter over the front door, including its window.

The hook-ups follow from the reslope: when a gutter is re-hung at a new pitch, the downspouts on that run have to be reattached to it.

How the repair was completed

On September 1 the crew cleaned the gutters and cleared the outlets. On the 66 feet marked for reslope, they released the fasteners, set each run at a new pitch toward its downspout, checked it with a torpedo level, and re-secured it. Per the quote, each of the seven corner reseals means removing the old sealant, wire-brushing the metal, and applying a high-grade silicone. The two downspouts were then reconnected to the re-hung runs.

The crew also applied the moss treatment. The quote lists a white powdered zinc sulfate monohydrate, and the photos show it laid in white lines along the hips and ridges of the roof. The quote notes this is a treatment, not a removal: the moss is expected to die back and wash off with rain over the following weeks, and the white residue is expected to wash away too.

The finished result

The September 1 photos show the gutter runs cleaned out with the outlets open, and the stone below the gutter ends over the front door washed.

Gutter repair cost in Kirkland, WA

This project fell in the $1,400 to $2,300 range. The seven corner reseals and the 66 feet of reslope were the two largest lines, followed by the moss treatment, the stone wash, and the two downspout hook-ups. The cleaning was included at no separate charge on this quote. A job with more corners to reseal, or more feet out of slope, would cost more. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

What homeowners with similar gutters should know

Look at the wall under the gutter ends. On this house the stone below two gutter ends was streaked dark, and it was one of the first things the estimator photographed.

Ask for the marked-up sketch. The estimator’s drawing showed exactly which runs, corners, and downspouts were in the quote, and the 66 feet and seven reseals on the sketch match the line items.

Expect white on the roof after a zinc sulfate treatment. The quote says the residue is normal and washes off with rain, and the moss dies back over weeks rather than disappearing the same day.

Related questions

How much does gutter repair cost in Kirkland, WA?

This Kirkland repair fell in the $1,400 to $2,300 range for 66 feet of reslope, seven corner reseals, two downspout hook-ups, a cleaning, a moss treatment, and a stone wash below one gutter.

What does it mean to reslope a gutter?

Resloping means releasing the gutter’s fasteners, setting it at a new pitch so water runs to the downspout, and re-securing it. On this job the crew checked the new slope with a torpedo level.

How were the seven corners resealed?

Per the quote, the crew removed the old sealant, wire-brushed the metal, and applied a high-grade silicone at each corner.

Why is the roof white after the moss treatment?

The treatment on this job was a white powdered zinc sulfate monohydrate. The quote notes that the white residue is expected and washes away with rain, and that visible results usually show over four to six weeks as the moss dies back.

How long did this repair take?

The repair was done in one visit on September 1, 2026, about two and a half weeks after the August 13 assessment.
