High Point Gutter replaced every gutter on a two-story Kirkland home in October 2026 and capped them with DoublePro gutter covers. The August 20 assessment found upper-story downspouts emptying onto the lower roofs. The crew installed 469 feet of 5-inch K-style gutter with 469 feet of DoublePro, 238 feet of downspout, six hardpipes to carry the upper downspouts over the roof, and flushed 11 underground drains.

What High Point found

The house steps down in several places, so upper roofs drain onto lower ones. The August 20 assessment photos show what that meant: downspouts from the second story ran down the wall and stopped on the shingles of the roof below. Under one of them the shingles were dark with moss, and the old gutter along that edge was stained and dirty.

The estimator’s sketch maps every run, corner, and downspout around the house, color-coded for hardpipes, tie-ins, and underground drains. The quote also lists the underground drains as clogged.

Why the quote combined new gutters and covers

Tall evergreens stand close to this house. The quote paired new gutters with DoublePro, a continuous hanger with a built-in cover that High Point recommends for homes under firs and pines, rather than adding covers to the old gutters.

The upper downspouts got hardpipes. The quote explains that concentrated water from a downspout ending on a roof wears that spot over time, so a hardpipe extends the downspout along the roof surface and drops the water into the lower gutter instead. Six were quoted. The 11 underground drains were quoted for a full flush, with each one inspected before flushing.

How the job was completed

The crew walked the property on October 5, and the install ran through October 8. The old gutters came down and were recycled. The new gutter was formed on site and hung with DoublePro, and 25 corners were hand-mitered, two of them at odd angles where the walls do not meet square. Counter flashing went in behind the roof edge on 94 feet of the roofline.

The install note records one change on site. About a third of the roof drains into one lower gutter, the same one the main hardpipes empty into. The crew added a downspout to that gutter for another exit, and moved a downspout from a U-shaped section so it drops on the other side. The note says the homeowner was told that gutter could still overflow in a heavy rain, and that the changes should help keep that from happening.

The finished result

By October 8 the house had new white gutters and downspouts on every side, with DoublePro along the whole system and the upper downspouts carried down to the lower gutters instead of onto the shingles.

Gutter guard installation cost in Kirkland, WA

This project fell in the $17,800 to $29,600 range. It was a large job: 469 feet each of gutter and DoublePro were the two biggest lines, followed by the underground drain flushes and the downspouts. The hardpipes, corners, and flashing added smaller amounts. A smaller house, or one that only needed covers on sound gutters, would cost much less. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

What homeowners with similar gutters should know

Check where the upper downspouts end. On this house several emptied straight onto the roofs below, and the quote added hardpipes to carry that water to the lower gutters.

A lower gutter that takes water from a large part of the roof needs enough exits. Here the crew added a downspout on install day for that reason.

Covers do not clear the drains under the yard. This job flushed 11 underground drains separately.

Related questions

How much does gutter guard installation cost in Kirkland, WA?

This Kirkland project fell in the $17,800 to $29,600 range for 469 feet of new 5-inch gutter with 469 feet of DoublePro, 238 feet of downspout, six hardpipes, 25 corners, and 11 underground drain flushes.

Why were the gutters replaced instead of just adding covers?

The quote paired the covers with a full new gutter system. DoublePro is a continuous hanger with a built-in cover, so it went on with the new gutter.

What is a downspout hardpipe?

It is an extension that carries an upper downspout along the roof surface and drops the water into the lower gutter, so it does not land on the shingles. Six were installed on this house.

Will the lower gutter overflow in heavy rain?

About a third of the roof drains into one lower gutter. The crew added a downspout there and moved another, and the homeowner was told it could still overflow in a heavy rain.

How long did the installation take?

The crew was on site October 5 to 8, 2026. The assessment was August 20.
