High Point Gutter replaced the full gutter system on a two-story Puyallup home on June 3, 2026, and capped the lower front with Double Pro Gutter Covers. The homeowner asked for a repair assessment. What High Point found

The May 15 assessment photos start at the roof edge. Lifting a shingle showed weathered wood at the edge with no metal under the roofing, and the old gutter below it held needles and dark grime. Further along, moss had built up on the shingles right down to the gutter.

At the ground, at least one old downspout ended beside an open drain pipe instead of connecting to it.

What the quote called for

The quote’s answer to the missing starter metal was 264 feet of 1×3-inch drip edge, the same footage as the old gutter coming off. Drip edge goes under the roofing at the edge so water drops into the gutter instead of wicking behind it. The quote paired that drip edge with a full gutter replacement.

Most of the house got 5-inch K-style gutter. The lower front of the home was quoted in 6-inch, a larger size for more water and debris, with Double Pro Gutter Covers on top. Double Pro is a continuous hanger with a built-in cover from Alu-Rex, replacing both the hanger and the cover in one piece. High Point is an Alu-Rex Master Installer and recommends Double Pro for homes with firs, pines, or heavy tree cover. The install-day photos show evergreens close to the house.

Three hardpipes were quoted for upper downspouts that ended on a lower roof, to carry the water along the roof surface into the lower gutters. Four drain line caps were quoted to fit 2×3-inch downspouts to 4-inch PVC drain lines, and one valley diverter was added at an inside valley.

How the job was completed

The crew installed the system on June 3. The old gutters and downspouts came off and were recycled, and the drip edge went in along the roof edge. The new gutter went up in continuous seamless lengths on hidden hangers every 2 feet with 1.5-inch screws, with preformed outlets and 12 corners hand-mitered and sealed. On the 6-inch front section the crew also installed 10 feet of counter flashing, which the install note records, and the Double Pro went on that run.

The downspouts were run in 2×3-inch aluminum with two custom offsets, the three hardpipes went in Musket Brown, and the drain line caps tied the downspouts into the PVC drains.

The finished result

By the end of June 3 the house had new white gutters and downspouts all around, with drip edge under the roof edge and Double Pro on the lower front.

Gutter guard installation cost in Puyallup, WA

This project fell in the $6,900 to $11,500 range. The 5-inch gutter was the largest line and the drip edge was a close second, because it ran the full 264 feet. The downspouts came next, then the Double Pro and the 6-inch gutter, which were about the same. Covering only the lower front kept the cover cost to a small share of the job. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

What homeowners with similar homes should know

A repair call can turn into a bigger project. Here, the assessment found no proper starter metal at the roof edge, and the quote addressed it along with new gutters.

Gutter covers do not have to go on every run. On this house they went on the 6-inch lower front section.

Check where your downspouts end at the ground. If one stops beside a drain pipe, ask how it will be connected.
