Gutter Repair in Kent, WA: Re-Fastening 174 Feet of Gutter Pulling Away From the Fascia

Gutter holding leaves and debris with plant growth along the side yard before repair in Kent, WA

Home › Projects › Gutter Repair in Kent

High Point Gutter repaired the gutters on a Kent home in May 2026 where the existing gutters were coming away from the fascia and rafter ends. The crew re-fastened 174 feet of gutter with galvanized screws, hand-cleaned the gutters and downspouts, and added a hardpipe so an upper downspout no longer empties onto the roof below. The homeowner had asked for a gutter repair in April, and the work was done in one visit on May 29, 2026.

The problem: gutters pulling off the house

The homeowner reached out in April with a gutter repair request. The quote describes what High Point found: the existing gutters were coming away from the fascia and the rafter ends. A gutter that pulls away tilts outward, so water can spill over the front or drop behind it instead of running to the downspouts.

The gutters were also carrying a lot of debris. Photos from the visit show leaves and plant growth inside the troughs along a side yard where shrubs grow right up to the roof edge.

Why reattach instead of replace

The quote treated this as a fastening problem, not a failed gutter. Nothing in the job record calls for new gutter, so High Point priced reattaching the existing runs: 174 feet, back into place with galvanized screw fasteners. Per the quote, where the design of the original gutters allows it, High Point adds hidden hangers to reinforce the run before driving the new fasteners.

Reattachment came to $435 of the total. That is the main reason this job is a gutter repair and not a replacement: the gutters were still usable once they were held to the house again.

The downspout that drained onto the roof

One upper-story downspout ended on the shingles of the lower roof. The quote explains why that matters: a downspout that empties onto the roof below puts a concentrated stream on one patch of shingles. The fix was a hardpipe, which carries the water along the roof surface and drops it straight into the lower gutter.

How the repair was done

The work was done in one visit on May 29. The crew hand-cleared the gutters and downspouts, reattached 174 feet of gutter, and installed the black hardpipe. One stretch of gutter runs right alongside the homeowner’s solar panels.

Gutter repair cost in Kent, WA

This project fell in the $700 to $1,100 range. That covered reattaching 174 feet of gutter, cleaning every gutter and downspout, and one hardpipe.

Reattachment is priced by the foot, so the length of loose gutter drives most of the cost. A job like this one goes up if fascia boards are rotted and have to be replaced before the gutter can be fastened, or if sections of gutter are too damaged to reuse. This range reflects the scope of this completed project and is not a current quote.

What homeowners with loose gutters should know

A gutter that is pulling away from the house is not always a gutter that needs replacing. On this home, the existing gutters were reused and fastened back into place.

On this home the gutters were both loose and full of debris. The quote priced the cleaning as its own line item on the same visit as the reattachment.

Look up at your upper downspouts. If one ends on a lower roof, ask about a hardpipe. Here it was a single line item on the same visit.

Related questions

How much does gutter repair cost in Kent, WA?

This Kent repair fell in the $700 to $1,100 range for 174 feet of gutter reattachment, a full cleaning, and one hardpipe. Repairs that need new fascia or replacement gutter sections cost more.

Can gutters that are pulling away be reattached?

Often, yes. On this project High Point reattached the existing gutters to the fascia and rafter ends with galvanized screw fasteners rather than replacing them. Whether that works depends on the condition of the gutter and the wood behind it.

What is a downspout hardpipe?

It is an extension that carries water from an upper downspout across the lower roof and into the lower gutter, so the water doesn’t land on one spot of shingles. This home got one hardpipe in black.

Was gutter cleaning part of this repair?

Yes. The gutters held leaves and plant growth, so the quote included hand cleaning of every gutter and downspout as a separate line item alongside the reattachment.

How long did this repair take?

One visit on May 29, 2026.
